Many women who go back part-time feel they get sidelined from jobs and responsibilities. Where once they were considered the boss, now they are overlooked for key promotions.
It is appreciated that it can cause extra hassle when meetings have to be arranged around a part-time employee, but meetings can always be arranged in the end at a convenient time for all.
What are the challenges women face going back to work after maternity leave?:
1) How many hours should they consider. Most large corporate organisations will only consider part-time of at least 3 days.
2) What childcare options to use: nursery, nanny or childminder.
3) Should they strive for promotion and the longer hours that may bring?
4) Should they try and become self-employed and work hours which suit them?
Coming back to work after maternity leave is difficult. You are out of the loop, almost forgotten. You have to work doubly hard to ensure that you are noticed and appreciated.
